Simon & Julien Dara

Simon and Julien Dara were born in England to Belgian parents. Simon graduated from the prestigious Royal College of Art in London in 2010 with a master’s in visual communication. Today he works as a freelance graphic designer and artistic director for various cultural institutions.

Julien studied at the INSAS film school (Brussels). He met director Tony Gatlif and started working as an assitant director on his films and then on other major French features. After LE SAC his first short film, he started working with his brother Simon.

In 2016, Simon and Julien co-directed THE ORDINARY, their first short film and collaboration. Self-produced, this film impressed with its originality and radicality. Refusing to take the path of classic narration, the two directors offered pure emotions with sound and picture.

In 2020, Simon and Julien co-directed LA COULEUR DES ROIS / THE COLOR OF KINGS, their second short film which is actually in post-production. The film was supported by the Belgian FWB, the RTBF and the foundation Thalie. They are currently writing their first feature for Boucan Film
